What Is Goth?

There's a lot of debate on this. It's not what Goth is to others, but what Goth is to you. Goth is music, fashion, architecture, and art.

The gargoyles you see on buildings in Europe, old churches, spooky mansions, most likely is what Gothic architecture looks like.

The art is dark, maybe with some fantasy, but at the same time, there is a beauty to it even if it is rather creepy.

The music may have a haunting sound, it doesn't matter really, not all Goths listen to the one genre. There's Post-Punk, Gothic Rock, (maybe even Deathrock), which is more what the original Goths listen to, and some of the modern Goths of today. There are branches of different music, as well as different types of Goths.

The fashion is dark, maybe elegant, or something more hardcore. Like I said, there are different types of Goths, not all go for the elegance, or Punk types, some go for something sweeter, and it doesn't always have to be black all the time. There are those who dress in all white, know as the Ice (or Negative) Goths.

Goth can be anything, you can take something ordinary and make it how you want it. Take a regular bow and put bats or eyeballs on it, or just leave it the way it is if it makes you happy.
Goth is what you make it, don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Everyone has a different opinion on what Goth is, and what Goth isn't.

There is one thing that is not Goth that people will tell you. Emo is not Goth, but it does come from Punk like Goth did.

Goth is a mindset, it doesn't matter what you wear, as long as you are what you feel you are.
